This local distillery is set in a historic building that was once an ice factory. Founded by the four Sydow brothers and family friend Alfonso Mora, they had a vision to create spirits that truly represent the spirit of Aruba, and that vision came to life with rums from the Bodegas Papiamento portfolio rums winning prestigious awards, including “Rum of the Year 2023” at the London Spirits Competition.

When you visit the distillery, you’re stepping into the heart of Aruban culture. Their spirits are inspired by the diverse influences of the island, reflected in the Papiamento language—a blend of five different languages: African, Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch, and English. Similarly, Papiamento rum is crafted from a blend of five distinct rums, each bringing its own character to the mix. Your group can enjoy a self-guided tour to learn about the Bodegas Papiamento journey, the rum-making process, and a tasting of three unique blends that each have their own story to tell.
